Shorlisted for Good Choice Awards 2017

U.M.I Foods have been shortlisted in the Good Choice Awards 2017

We’re delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in the 2017 Good Choice Awards. The Good Choice Awards, now in their third year are, ‘designed to highlight best practice in those food products that are specifically designed and marketed for healthier, free from or alternative diet.’ This year we entered one product into the Meat Free category, our ASDA 2 pack Mushroom & Spinach Burgers. These burgers are produced using local British & Irish mushrooms, smooth cream cheese with fresh baby leaf spinach and sweet caramelised onions. Designed to provide consumers with added choice and versatility in their meals, the burgers were developed in response to the mounting rise in consumers choosing a vegetarian or flexitarian lifestyle. However, it has also been noted that non–vegetarians are increasingly buying into vegetarian products as they look for something that little bit different, whilst also seeking to reduce their intake of meat.

Shortlisted in the Meat Free category, our burgers join three other products including the Co–op’s Butternut Squash and Quinoa Roasting Joint, Organic Devonshire Soysage from Dragonfly and Iceland’s Luxury Roast Parsnip & Portobello Mushroom Pithivier. Taking just 25 minutes to cook from chilled; these delicious meat free alternatives are packed full of flavour with an eye–catching visual providing the consumer with a smooth, crisp bite. Selling at a RRP of £2 with only 195 calories per burger and no artificial colours, flavours or hydrogenated fats these burgers are ideal for those consumers searching for fresh, healthier alternatives at a fair price.

Health has become a significant factor throughout the industry, with these awards recognising the huge efforts being made by both retailers & manufacturers to deliver food and drink that address specific consumer needs, such as low fat, low–sugar, dairy–free and reduced–calories. The winners will be announced at an afternoon event held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on Thursday, 9th November 2017.
